Can you use the rocks to teach us about color palettes?

I gotta wonder how long it takes just to learn this. Like, I don't say that to make fun of you. I'm very new to pixel art and my thought process is still just "rock gray, shadow dark gray, done." I can only imagine that it must take hours and hours of practice to make this kind of thinking intuitive, to make even a freaking ROCK look more... alive? (If that doesn't sound too stupid there.) And you can't even tell when you're looking at it close up, but you zoom out and... dang! It LOOKS like a real rock!

Not sure how many people have suggested it, but my job involves working with pixels in a 3D environment using a software called Blockbench. I've seen other pixel artist give it a shot in a video, I would love to see you explore such a magical place and create something super nostalgic! Love the video btw!
